La Reforma en América Latina: Pasado, Presente y Futuro

What this book intends is to gather reflections on the Reformation from a Latin American and Caribbean perspective. And from that perspective, things look very different from what we have learned in past generations! From this perspective, the Reformation is not only a reason for celebration, but also a call to critical reflection and obedient action. Such is the purpose of this book. We do not pretend to praise Luther and the other men and women who dared to launch unprecedented proposals based on the Word of God. What we hope is rather that experience of those who discovered in that Word new faith, new life and new hope, help us, through obedience to the same intensity word to discover today also in this convulsed America new faith, new life and new hope.

Lo que este libro pretende es recopilar reflexiones acerca de la Reforma desde una perspectiva latinoamericana y caribeña. ¡Y desde esa perspectiva las cosas se ven de manera muy diferente a lo que aprendimos en generaciones pasadas! Desde esa perspectiva, la Reforma no es solamente motivo de celebración, sino que también llamado a la reflexión crítica y a la acción obediente. Tal es el propósito de este libro. No pretendemos ensalzar a Lutero y a los demás hombres y mujeres que se atrevieron a lanzar propuestas inauditas fundamentadas en la Palabra de Dios. Lo que esperamos es más bien que aquella experiencia de quienes descubrieron en esa Palabra nueva fe, nueva vida y nueva esperanza, nos ayude, mediante la obediencia a la misma intensidad palabra a descubrir hoy también en esta América convulsionada nueva fe, nueva vida y nueva esperanza.
