The Liberating Pulpit

Many church leaders have claimed that liberation theologies were a fad that would quickly pass, or that they would pass away with the failure of communist systems, or that they were a justification for Marxist violence. Claims that economic capitalism has won the day are all the more reason for Christians everywhere to be aware of oppression against the poor, against women, and against people of color. Claims about the gospel of prosperity, or the need for self-fulfillment among baby boomers, make the task of preaching the good news even more urgent.
